Being a Better Human...
I love this - 10 ways to get the most out of the time you have on the planet!!
We all love a list, but this is really practical, especially in our time-poor scrolling world that has become the norm. What is the norm? How do we be the best human we can be while we're so busy trying to put ourselves first, fill out all the school notes, ensure everyone is eating healthy and getting enough sleep, etc... no wonder we escape off into our phones for 2 minutes of scrolling for some mindless peace and feeling overwhelm is so real... Apparently the average person has about four thousand weeks on this Earth. How will you spend them?
This article was a real wake up call to stop and just do important things. Easier said that done, but my advice is use your intuition...
My plan is to be guided by those I adore around me. When my teen asks me to take him for a drive, even though I'm tired and want to chill out, I do. And we have great conversations with insights and learning about each other that I want more of. But with teens it has to be on their terms.
I'm so aware of the fact that my children are my time gauge - they show me how fast the world is going and nothing I do can slow it down... so enjoy the distractions of pleasure that are the most important thing in the world to you.
As a family we play board games when we're together and my husband isn't a 'game-player' or a fan. I tell him how precious these moments are and it's actually not about the game. It's about the time and interacting and feeling safe, secure and loved together. Whenever we leave each other, my teens say 'love you mum' and I realise how important it is to always say it back. It's them in control and testing the waters to ensure I'm here and that I have their back.
I'll always have their back and it gives me the most peace and calm to know they feel so loved. It's not always the big grandiose things, it's often the little tiny things you may not even be aware that you do... do more of those.
